Cyprus in numbers

How many tourists come to Cyprus each month, how many cars are registered and how fast prices are rising: the main figures of everyday life in Cyprus, as charts you can read at a glance and explore month by month.

Every figure comes from the official statistics: the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CYSTAT) for tourist arrivals and car registrations, and Eurostat for inflation and nights in tourist accommodation. The charts are updated when new figures are published, usually once a month.

When are the figures published?

CYSTAT publishes tourist arrivals about two weeks after the end of each month and car registrations early in the next month; Eurostat publishes inflation at the end of each month and nights in tourist accommodation about two months later.

What counts as a tourist arrival?

A visitor who lives abroad and arrives in Cyprus for a stay, counted by the Statistical Service at the airports and ports.

What is the inflation figure?

The yearly change of the harmonised index of consumer prices: how much the same basket of goods and services costs compared with the same month a year earlier. It is the measure used to compare the countries of the European Union.

Why is this year’s column lighter?

The year is not over: it holds only the months already published.
